What is RSS
What is RSS?
RSS is a standard of text layout. An advantage of this is that a computerprogram interprets the content. For example there is an obvious separation between a heading of an article, a link and the text itself.

What is a RSS-feed?
A RSS-feed is a textarticle which uses this layout and gets refreshed at certain times.

Why use RSS?
RSS is suitable for the exchange of content. A computer can read the textfile, interpret it and present it to the user at a defined way.

What do I need for RSS?
The most used application for RSS-feeds are the so called RSS-readers. They come in all sorts of ways an foor most platforms (Macintosh, Windows and Linux). They all collect articles and present them to the user. The programs alert the user when new content is added to a certain website.
