Press release: Gazprom and Gasunie sign agreement on knowledge exchange
By signing a letter of intent, JSC GAZPROM, the Russian gas supplier, and NV Nederlandse Gasunie, the Dutch natural gas company, have laid the foundation for a knowledge exchange program. Letter of Intent to this effect is signed by Mr. Sergei A. Lukash, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC GAZPROM and Mr. Eric Dam, Director Business Support of N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie.

In this framework of mutual participation the Energy Delta Institute will take further shape. This institute is set up by Gasunie in cooperation with the University of Groningen (Netherlands) as a platform for training and sharing knowledge in the energy business and is supported by the Russian and Dutch governments.

The first activity of the Energy Delta Institute will be the Natural Gas Strategy Course (NGSC) to be organised from September 23 until October 12, 2002 in Groningen, the Netherlands. The course will be preceded by opening sessions in the Gazprom Training Centre in Moscow, end of June.

The NGSC is a program for 'high potentials' in the Russian natural gas business. It provides its participants with an understanding of dynamics and opportunities of the European and global gas markets and as such promotes the integration of European and Russian market economies. Approximately thirty participants will take part in each NGSC.

The initiative leading up to the foundation of the Energy Delta Institute originally dates back to the natural gas supply and services contract between JSC GAZPROM and Gasunie, at December 21, 1999. Its foundation underlines the strategic alliance between the two companies and the prominent position of both companies in the gas world.
