GasTerra Flames

Since the 2009/2010 season, GasTerra has been the main sponsor of the Groningen-based basketball team GasTerra Flames. The club was founded in 1881 as the Vindicat student society's gym and fencing club. The club later incorporated more sports and changed its name to GSSV Donar. The first team was promoted to the national premier league in 1970. Three years later the club cut loose from Vindicat and changed from an amateur to a professional sports club. The team won the championship in 1982 and 2004 and in 2010 GasTerra Flames were champions of the Netherlands for the third time in the club's history.
