Environmental Plan for Industry
GasTerra supports its industrial customers in improving their energy efficiency and reducing emissions by promoting the effective use of natural gas. GasTerra set up the Environmental Plan for Industry (MPI) for this purpose. With MPI projects, the emphasis is on the introduction of PEMS, a product and energy management system that GasTerra developed itself. Investigating a company’s energy management practices also falls within the possibilities. The MPI support appears to tie in well with the reporting obligations that industry has as regards energy and the environment. The MPI was introduced in the 1990s in order to provide industrial customers with ideas for more efficient methods of using energy, especially natural gas. Projects were implemented in hundreds of companies and even in whole branches of industry, such as the glass industry and the paper sector, which led to savings of between 10 and 50%. GasTerra is continuing this earlier policy directly through its current transitional policy. There is every reason to do so, given the concerns about climate change and damage to the environment and the prudent use of finite reserves. At the same time, it is likely that the demand for energy will double by 2050. All this means that the demand for cleaner energy is rapidly increasing. GasTerra is helping this energy transition along.
