'I am an account manager for the Energy Companies department. We sell gas to energy distribution companies such as Nuon, Eneco and Oxxio. The customer may also choose to have extra services, like gas transport and provision of the correct hourly profile.
Contract management – maintaining contact with the customer, monitoring the terms and conditions of the contract and logging customer requirements – is very important in our work. I visit customers for an average of a half to one full day per week. This is partly for the purpose of contract management, but also for negotiating new contracts. We develop new products whilst keeping customer requirements in the back of our mind. Another important part of our work is writing contracts. This becomes very pressurised, especially towards the end of the year. As well as the tasks that are directly related to my position as an account manager, I am also regularly involved in all sorts of projects. This involves working with different colleagues from other departments a lot of the time.
My work suits me really well. I can organise my time fairly flexibly and the combination of working in the field and in the office gives me the variety I need. GasTerra is a relatively young “club” with motivated employees who are all very approachable. Liberalisation of the gas market and all the discussions relating to the future energy supply also provide for a challenging working environment.’
